Is it for me? Tips for evaluating online mental health information
A simple tool designed to encourage critical thinking and empower students to make informed decisions as they engage with online mental health content.
Why is evaluating online mental health content important?
Many students use online sources to guide their personal mental health decisions. Online information can vary in quality and may sometimes even be inaccurate. This simple evaluation tool is designed to help students find online sources of information they can rely on to support their mental health and manage mental health problems, should they need to.
How might I use this tool?
The tool may be used independently by students or shared by an educator in the classroom (a guide is available to support with this). The tool links with many curriculum areas (e.g., media literacy, inquiry/research skills, healthy living, personal well-being, personal life management) and aligns with and supports delivery of the Ministry of Education’s Mental Health Literacy Modules for Career Studies (GLC2O).
