School and system leaders play a key role in creating the conditions for mentally healthy schools. This half-day virtual summer institute explores how leadership, structures, and practical resources can strengthen mental health and well-being across school communities.
Designed for school and system leaders, this session supports a purposeful approach to building and sustaining mentally healthy schools where every student has access to differentiated and identity-affirming, evidence-informed mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention services, and where students who need more intensive support are guided to appropriate care.
The day will begin with a keynote on Leading Mentally Healthy Schools, grounded in the seven key foundations for scalable and sustainable school mental health, exploring how leadership decisions, structures, and everyday practices shape the conditions that support student and staff well-being. Participants will also consider how this work aligns with board priorities, school improvement planning, and community needs. Following the keynote, participants will engage in a carousel of learning sessions highlighting practical leadership resources related to mental health promotion, early identification, addictions prevention, and parent and caregiver engagement. These sessions will provide adaptable tools and strategies that leaders can apply within their local school and system contexts.
By the end of this institute, school and system leaders will:
