#HearNowON – A Student Voice Initiative
School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON), in partnership with the Centre for School Mental Health at Western University, is excited to continue #HearNowON into 2025!
#HearNowON is a provincial student voice initiative aimed at engaging students in grades 7-12 through an online survey and virtual focus groups. We hope to hear student perspectives on mental health promotion and learning in their schools.
By sharing their perspectives, students will help us:
- Gather ideas on how to build and sustain mental health promotion and knowledge
- Hear perspectives on how school communities can adopt a reconciliation and equity-based approach to school mental health support
- Understand what needs to be in place to support student mental health and wellness
We value the relationships that you hold with the young people in your lives and hope that you can share this initiative with them.
Here’s how students can participate:
- Virtual focus groups: Students can join a 90-minute session to share their ideas directly with us. As a thank you, they’ll receive a $25 gift card.
- Online survey Students can complete the survey before March 5th, 2025, to make sure their perspectives are heard.
To learn more, interested students can visit our student website to participate directly.
Both the survey and focus groups require parent or caregiver consent for participation.
If you have any additional questions about the focus groups or survey, please reach out to Elo Igor, project coordinator, at eigor@smho-smso.ca. Additionally, if you have any questions about the research process, please reach out to Trisha Woehrle, at twoehrle@smho-smso.ca
