Supporting Your Child’s Well-Being: Free Webinar Series for Parents and Caregivers on Addictions Prevention and Youth Mental Health
At School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON), we recognize that parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting their child’s mental health and well-being. That’s why we launched the By Your Side Parent Hub and toolkit for school staff in January—an evidence-based resource hub designed to equip families with practical strategies for mental health learning at home.
Building on this initiative, we are excited to introduce a free five-part webinar series focused on substance use, addictive behaviors, and youth mental health. These sessions will provide valuable information and expert guidance to help parents and caregivers navigate these important topics with confidence.
Key takeaways
This webinar series will cover key issues impacting youth today, including:
- The intersection of addictions and mental health – How substance use and mental health concerns can be connected.

- How to talk about substance use at home – Practical tips to start open and supportive conversations.
- Current trends in student substance use in Ontario – What parents and caregivers need to know.
