Balanced Device Use: Orientation and Implementation Session


For MHLs and Managers of Student Support Staff from boards interested in implementing the Balanced Device Use program .

School Mental Health Ontario is pleased to announce the provincial launch of Balanced Device Use: a 3-session program designed to be delivered by Student Support Staff in small groups and classrooms.

This session offers an opportunity for boards interested in implementing Balanced Device Use this school year, or in the 2026/2027 school year, to participate in an Orientation and Implementation Session for Mental Health Leaders and Managers of Student Support Staff. During this session, Mental Health Leaders and Managers of Student Support Staff who will support coordinating program delivery at their boards will:

1. experience key aspects of the Balanced Device Use program to support familiarity and confidence coordinating its delivery

2. be introduced to a suite of materials that have been created to support boards to deliver the program

3. explore considerations and strategies to support implementation at their board.

This session is open to boards who have included Media Literacy as a priority in their Annual Action Plan, those who are beginning to explore Balanced Device Use and are interested in including media literacy as a priority in their action plan for next year, and those who participated in the field test and pilot.

Mental health leaders: Managers of clinical or mental health services, Managers of psychology services, Managers of social work services, Mental health leaders

This session will be delivered in English. Materials, breakout rooms, etc. will be available in French and English.
