Special education resource kit

As a special education resource teacher, you play a powerful role in supporting student mental health and well-being every day.

Your daily efforts to include, understand and support students academically—while promoting knowledge of mental health, healthy habits and strong partnerships—help create a mentally healthy, identity-affirming school environment.

You support and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that mental health promotion activities, services and resources are designed to meet the needs of every student. Through the caring relationships you build, you recognize when students may need help with their mental health and bridge them to supports.

Whether you’re new or experienced in this role, the resources on this page are here to support your ongoing learning and growth.

The work you do meaningfully impacts students’ lives and strengthens the school as a whole.
