Black History Month: Resources to support you in February and beyond
February is Black History Month – a time to honour the legacy and contributions of Black people in Canada and their communities.
This year’s theme, “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations,” invites us to learn about and reflect on the many contributions of Black Canadians both past and present, often in the face of profound obstacles. It’s also an opportunity to commit to building a more equitable and inclusive future by learning of Canada’s history of systemic racism and the challenges that Black communities continue to face, including systemic barriers, discrimination, and anti-Black racism.
In recognizing both the challenges and triumphs, we honour the strength, resilience, joy, and amazing diversity within Black communities.
To contribute to the recognition, we have compiled a list of some of our resources that might be of interest to you and may help you along your way.
