DBT Informed Suicide Risk Assessment and Management - Jan 26 and Feb 9 2025
A 2-day, virtual training session with opportunities for learning, discussion, practice and role play.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Informed Suicide Risk Assessment and Management (SRAM) Training will provide an opportunity for school mental health professionals to deepen their professional skills in the area of suicide risk assessment and management with students who experience chronic suicide ideation in school settings.
Over the course of two days of virtual training, school mental health professionals will learn how to integrate relevant Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed skills in the process of suicide risk assessment and management with students. Dr. McTaggart will model and provide experiential opportunities for skill acquisition, as well as problem solve applications of this model of intervention which arise in school settings. Please note this training will include role play opportunities and will include homework between the two training days.
The goals of the training are to:
• increase knowledge and confidence in working with students with chronic suicidal ideation and/or self-harm behaviours
• understand the function of these behaviours and how to intervene
• know which skills to coach and when/how
Pre-requisite:completion of the online self-directed learning modules – parts 1 and 2 (LINK)

1st offering:
•Day 1 –January 26th 2026 (9:00 am - 3:45 pm)
•Day 2 - February 9 2026 (9:00 am - 3:45 pm)
Audience:
School Mental Health Professionals: Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Social workers
Language:This session will be delivered in English. Materials, breakout rooms, etc. will be available in French and English.
