Decision Support Tool for Classroom Teachers – Checklist for Educators for the Planning of Student Mental Health-Related Activities

Educators come across many mental-health-related resources, programs and initiatives. This decision support tool can help you differentiate between the ones that are helpful and those that can cause harm.

The tool provides a quick checklist format to help educators reflect upon and select, when appropriate, mental health awareness activities that:

  • align with the board’s mental health and addictions strategy
  • fit their local context and needs
  • are safe for students

Awareness activities for consideration include:

  • one-time presentations/guest speakers
  • mental health videos
  • social media campaigns
  • evidence-informed suicide awareness activities
