How Ontario’s Schools Support Children and Youth Mental Health and Social-Emotional Learning
Ontario’s schools are an excellent place for promoting
positive mental health, for helping with social-emotional learning, for
noticing when a student might be struggling with a mental health problem, and
with supporting early intervention services and referrals to more intensive
treatment when needed.
Educators play an important role in creating mentally
healthy learning environments, supporting social-emotional learning, and
helping students who might be struggling with a mental health problem while at

on staff who provide prevention and early intervention support to students.
They also work with mental health clinicians in the community to help ensure a
strong circle of support when students need more care.
