This K-12 resource guide by the Ontario Ministry of Education provides educators with information about creating mentally healthy classrooms, recognizing the early signs of mental health and addiction problems, and strategies for supporting students at school.

About the resource 

This resource guide is designed to help educators understand more about mental health to promote the mental health of every student. It provides information: 

  • that outlines ways in which educators can promote the mental health and well-being of all students 
  • about the types of mental health problems children and youth may experience, such as: 
    • anxiety 
    • mood 
    • attention and hyperactivity/impulsivity 
    • behaviour 
    • eating and weight-related 
    • substance use 
    • gambling 
    • self-harm and suicide 
  • to help educators recognize students who may be experiencing distress and support them in their pathway to care
